A little bit of rock and roll craziness has been announced: You can now pay Steel Panther to write you into the lyrics of a song from their catalogue of your choosing. Today, in the pandemic era of 2020, most bands are on hold; Waiting to tour again and looking to stir things up a bit. Lamb of God on September 18th played the entirety of the self titled album on a private stream, and are returning this Friday, September 25th, to play the entirety of smash-hit metal record Ashes of the Wake. Metallica streamed to drive-in movie theaters across the United States and Canada on August 29th. Countless acts are utilizing 2020 to figure out what they are going to do until they can resume business as usual.
Well, Steel Panther for the time being have figured out a nice little way to give back to the fans in these mixed-up times.
Blabbermouth.com writes: "For a limited time — until the band can tour again — STEEL PANTHER has a very special offer. Pick any one of the group's songs and tell STEEL PANTHER whom or what you want the rewrite to be about. Take part in a custom rewrite of one of your faves.
For the price of $7,500, you can pick any song from STEEL PANTHER's catalog and they will record a NEW version with lyrics inspired by you, just for you. The band will deliver a full rock song finished to a quality comparable to songs on their albums. The band will do up to two lyric revisions prior to recording the song. Once lyrics have been approved, this product is non-refundable."
The band responsible for such hits as Community Property, Death to All But Metal, and Party Like Tomorrow Is The End Of The World (a personal favorite), want you to fill out a questionnaire (link below) so they can craft the best version of your very own personalized Steel Panther song. Its a really great way to support the band.
Steel Panther were a hair metal band named Metal Skool until 2008, when they changed their name to the now well-known moniker. Formed in 2000 as Metal Shop, they played covers, but once they began writing originals, it wasn’t long until they were noticed for being extremely talented, well-versed in their instruments, and provided a nostalgic feeling that can only be replicated by drinking a beer in the back of a 1985 El Camino while you smoke Marlboro Reds, hoping your mom doesn’t smell it on your patched denim vest.
Ahh, the good old days.
