The entire world was rocked to it's core when Eddie Van Halen, founding member and guitarist of legendary hard rock band, VAN HALEN, passed away suddenly on Oct. 6.
Eddie Van Halen will always be remembered for his contributions to the world of rock music, especially his innovative techniques on guitar that made him a stand-out player. He is fondly being remembered by his fans, friends, and colleagues, all over the world, on social media.
Steve Vai, Alex Skolnick, K. K. Downing, Ozzy Osbourne, Scott Ian, and Eddies Son, Wolfgang Van Halen, are just a small snippet of the outpouring of love and support coming out of this tragic event.
Since February 10, 1978, the release of VAN HALEN's eponymous first album, Eddie has played directly into our hearts with the fury of a galestorm. Cutting riff after riff, lead after lead, year after year.
"Eddie Van Halen was one of the nicest guys I ever worked with, and we shared so many laughs together" - Ozzy Osbourne
Beloved across the globe for the last 40 some-odd years, Eddie Van Halen has made an indelible mark on music history, and American culture. crafting hits like Why Can't This Be Love?, Dance the Night Away, his shredding guitar opus, Eruption, and Panama.
Mike Portnoy shared a particularly touching photo, a composite photo featuring Eddie smiling next to Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne, ex-Quiet Riot) and Dimebag Darrell (Damageplan, ex-Pantera). A moving tribute to our fallen guitar gods.
In effigy of Van Halen, I would like to reiterate the words of The Righteous Brothers, from their 1974 hit, 'Rock and Roll Heaven'.
"If you believe in forever, Then life is just a one-night stand. If there's a rock n' roll heaven, Well you know they've got a hell of a band."
