David Crosby stirs controversy after tweets about famous rocker go live.
David Crosby of CROSBY, STILLS, AND NASH has found himself in hot water as tweets he made after the death of guitarist Eddie Van Halen incensed music fans everywhere.
The original offending tweet, posted on October 10, just days after Eddie's untimely death, described the 'Suite/Judy Blue Eyes' singer's apathy thusly;
The Croz went on to explain himself and what exactly was meant by the simple, yet incendiary 'Meh.'
"Hendrix changed the world of guitar. Nobody else really ...look I get it ..many of you loved Van Halen ....and the one time I met he was nice ....and he was talented ...meh to me means I don’t care that much ....and I don’t ...doesn’t mean he wasn’t good ,he was but not for me [sic] " - David Crosby
Unfortunately, this statement only served to further conversations about who is the better guitarist; Eddie, or Jimi. Forgetting what sparked the issue in the first place, in favor of subjective opinion.
On October 13th, David Crosby issued his final words on the matter, hopefully putting to bed any bad blood from the music community.
This did not do any favors for David, as this tweet also led to further reactionary responses from twitter's rabid keyboard warriors, as well as fellow musicians. Not to mention, a slew of media attention from big publications around the world.
"Several musicians including Tracii Guns, Alex Skolnick and Dee Snider showcased their dismay for the response, which they saw as disrespectful, considering the guitarist had just succumbed to a cancer battle days before." - via loudwire.com
As the ashes begin to fly from this house-fire of twitter correspondence and the flames recede, we remember Eddie Van Halen every day for the contributions he made to the world of guitar playing. Perhaps this is what happens when worlds collide.
